Royal Caribbean swaps ships for Southampton 2027 season

Royal Caribbean confirmed that Freedom of the Seas will replace Mariner of the Seas in Southampton for summer 2027, with some itineraries adjusted.

Deployment change confirmed

Royal Caribbean has updated its 2027 Southampton deployment and will now place Freedom of the Seas in the market instead of Mariner of the Seas. The change follows earlier cancellation moves affecting Freedom's original summer plans and gives the line a slightly larger ship for the UK program.

What booked guests need to know

The company said sailings will operate on the same dates that had been scheduled for Mariner, but selected ports and routing details have been revised. Guests are being offered options including moving to another sailing, taking a refund, or remaining on the replacement ship in a similar stateroom category.

Summer program focus

From Southampton, Freedom of the Seas is expected to offer Northern and Western Europe cruises between May and October 2027. For travellers, the practical impact is less about brand-level change and more about checking whether the revised port mix still matches the trip they originally booked.

Broader fleet signal

Royal Caribbean has not yet detailed Mariner's full replacement role, though the ship is currently tied to a transatlantic crossing into the Mediterranean ahead of summer. The move shows how large operators keep reshaping capacity by region when operational needs and booking priorities shift.
